Hatmada is a tefillin consistency app operated by Hatmada Inc. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, the services we use to run the app, and how you can request deletion of your data.

Information We Collect

Account and profile information

We collect information you provide when creating or editing your account, including your name, email address, display name, profile photo if you add one, city, state or province, country, timezone, and whether your app settings indicate Israel calendar timing.

Practice, proof, and streak information

We collect proof submission records, local dates, streak counts, verification status, attempt counts, prize-cycle eligibility data, and proof photos that you submit through the app.

Photos and camera access

Hatmada uses camera and photo-library permissions so you can capture proof photos, set a profile picture, and save or share generated collages. Proof photos are stored in Supabase secure storage and are used for verification, support, moderation, streak history, collage generation, and account deletion workflows.

Location and timing data

Hatmada may ask for device location permission to calculate tefillin times, sunset reminders, and Israel calendar prompts. Precise device coordinates are used for app functionality and may be cached on your device for a limited time, generally about 24 hours, so timing can refresh without asking repeatedly. Hatmada stores your city, state or province, country, timezone, Israel setting, and whether location permission was granted. We do not sell location data.

Notifications and device data

If you enable notifications, we collect and store your push notification token, notification preference settings, and delivery-validity status so we can send reminders, proof updates, group activity notifications, and milestone messages.

Community and support information

If you use community features, we collect group membership, roles, invite codes, group activity, announcements, shul or organization requests, charity requests, feedback, and related support messages.

How We Use Information

  • Provide accounts, authentication, profile settings, streak history, and proof submission workflows.
  • Verify proof photos using automated review and, when needed, human moderation.
  • Calculate tefillin windows, local dates, reminders, and calendar-related app behavior.
  • Run community, group, feedback, support, prize-cycle, and winner announcement features.
  • Send notifications you enable, including reminders, group updates, proof-review updates, and milestone messages.
  • Protect the app from abuse, fraud, duplicate proof submissions, and security issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

Automated Verification and Service Providers

Hatmada uses Supabase for database, authentication, storage, and Edge Functions. Proof photos may be sent to OpenAI through a short-lived Supabase signed URL for automated tefillin verification. Verification results, confidence scores, and reasons may be stored with the proof record. If automated review is uncertain or appealed, Hatmada may route the proof to human review.

Hatmada also uses Expo and Firebase/FCM services for push notification delivery and app infrastructure. If you choose to support Hatmada through GoFundMe, you leave Hatmada and your donation is handled by GoFundMe under its own terms and privacy practices. Hatmada currently does not collect or store payment card information in the app.

Sharing and Visibility

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers only as needed to operate the app, process proof verification, send notifications, host data, provide support, and comply with law.

Some information may be visible to other users depending on the features you use. For example, your display name, group activity, approved proof activity, streak milestones, announcements, and winner information may appear in group or winner-related areas of the app. Winner displays may use a snapshot of your display name and region or country rather than your full city.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain account, profile, proof, streak, community, and support data while your account is active or as needed to operate Hatmada, maintain records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

You can request deletion from the app profile screen using Delete Account, or by contacting contact@hatmada.app. Account deletion is designed to remove your profile, authentication account, proof photos, streak history, group memberships, collages, and related personal records. Some records may remain for a limited time in backups, security logs, legal records, aggregated statistics, or records that must be retained for compliance.

Security

We use HTTPS, access controls, Supabase row-level security patterns, secure authentication storage, and operational safeguards to protect personal information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to limit access to personal data to what is needed to operate and support Hatmada.

Children

Hatmada is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and may provide additional notice in the app or on the website.
